2014.7.31

The SW is making little appearances here and there but don't expect to see it unless you've got all day. Mostly NW wind swell showing at the beach in the thigh to waist high zone. Drained tide is likely taking a bit of size out of it but keeping it more walled. Light cross shore breeze, overcast and with a light drizzle. Water and air temp hanging in the low 60's. Avoid the high tide by a couple hours today and there'll probably be some fun corners... more volume is better for today.

2014.7.30

The SW swell has faded fast in the last day with only occasional appearances on the buoy at this point. Enough NW wind swell making it around the corner for some fun looking waist high corners that could be going chest high + on better sets. Consistency is looking low and wind cross shore. Could be a fun day for a fun board, especially if the sun shows up. The tide is drained right now. Look for backwash and shore break a couple hours before/after the high.

2014.7.29

Buoy is still reading a consistent SW and it's showing in the water. Pulse looks a lot like yesterday but cleaner. Chest high with good power and + sets. Very light winds and overcast but I expect both of those to change between now and the early-mid afternoon. Lots of fun waves but you need some real speed to get down the line. Not a beginners day.

2014.7.28

SW Juice is back in the water. Buoy reading 3 ft 15 sec SW. Waves looking pretty mixed up but chest high + on the drained out tide can only mean more size will show on the flow. Not a beginners day. Skies are grey but we'll probably see a burn off later. Waves should be dandy all day as the high tide probably won't drown out waves of that size.

2014.7.27

The SW is back and bringing just a little bit of juice to the beach. A 1-ish ft 15 sec period SW is on the buoy and seems to be helping push some wind "swell" around the corner into the beach. The wind swell is making for many jumbled lines but the corners seem to be walling a lot better than yesterday. Solid waist to chest high lines and maybe a bit + on double ups. Otherwise we see grey skies and light onshore wind which makes you think "whew! a reprieve yesterdays heat sounds nice". With water temp @ 63º & rising don't expect to be comfy in your 5-4. Just saying. Beginners: today's a nice day for a bodysurf but it's a little juicy for a board you can't control. Bolinas might have some lines for you on the high tide.

2014.7.26

Another sunny day with light winds while I was down there. Looking very small & sloppy this morning. The low tide is likely holding back some size but the biggest I saw was a thigh high left roll through the middle. Good day for fair weather surfers and beginners alike. Avoid the high tide as all it'll bring is shore break for a few hours on each side.

2014.7.25

The potatoes get smaller. Lots of thigh high waves coming through with occasional waist high sets. It's an 8 sec NW swinging in mostly and it's coming in with an almost comical like consistency. Watching it for a minute this morning almost reminded me of an early slapstick where the film is sped up. That's not to say it's a bad day! Great day for beginner and even intermediate surfers to get out and practice pop ups. The sun is out and shining which is a bonus, and our ocean is more and more soup-like every day. I saw one buoy read 64º at one point yesterday.
